Matthew 28 - The King Commission is the Original Commission

July 19th, 2019

Many Christians are aware of what Yeshua's Great Commission is - "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you." Ifyou ask them what it is, they will often say it's all about evangelism. True...in part. It's about making disciples. In fact, if we were to evaluate the modern church against the Great Commission, we might think Christians think it's the Great Option. Join Pastor Jay in this very challenging message and a REMARKABLE insight at the end of the message!

Matthew 27 - The King’s Burial: The Seed of God’s Kingdom is Planted

June 20th, 2019

The Trial and Torture have passed. The Crucifixion has finished its gruesome work. The earthquake and darkness are beginning to fade away and the curtain of the Temple waves placidly in two vertical torn panels. As the weekly Sabbath approaches, a small group of people approach Pilate and ask for Yeshua's body. Time is short. He must be buried before sundown. What they are about to do sets the stage for the most cosmos-changing event in human history! But for now...quiet.

Matthew 27 - The King’s Humiliation and Glory, pt 2

May 27th, 2019

The Gospel account has reached the pivotal moment - Yeshua's crucifixion. The fate of all humanity rests on 6 hours during a long planned-for-by-the-Father Passover. Genesis 3:15 is about to be fulfilled - "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." This ancient prophecy was given to Satan to let him know his inevitable doom at the hands of God's Messiah, a human descendant of Adam and Eve. At the crucifixion, Satan strikes Yeshua's "heel," bringing him death. And simultaneously, Yeshua crushes Satan's head, i.e. conquers his tyrannical dominion over mankind. Listen to Pastor Jay as he describes the events, the process, and prophecies of Yeshua's crucifixion in this gripping end to Satan's rule and our freedom!

Matthew 27 - Rome’s Governor Vs. Israel’s King

May 13th, 2019

Jesus'/Yeshua's trial before the Sadducean leadership is over and they now deliver him to Pilate for Roman execution. But Pilate is not convinced of Yeshua's guilt. Too often we gloss over the subtleties of the back and forth questions and Jesus' silence. Pastor Jay unpacks this dramatic moment as it leads up to Yeshua's crucifixion.

Matthew 27 - Judas’ End and a Prophecy from God

May 13th, 2019

Judas' end is a tragic event. Suicide is NEVER the answer even in the deepest despair. But there's more to Juda's final moments that a tragic example. It actually refers to two potent prophecies that spelled impending doom for the Jewish leadership, the Temple, Jerusalem, and the nation of Israel. Open your Bibles to Jeremiah 32 and Zechariah 11 and be prepared for amazement!

Matthew 26:57-75 - A Tale of Two Trials

April 19th, 2019

At this point in the Gospel, Yeshua has been arrested and is being brought before High Priest Caiaphas for trial. But Yeshua is not the only one going through a trial. Peter is as well. Both men are pressed for their testimonies - one speaks the truth (much to the dismay of the High Priest) and one...well, crumbles to dust under the pressure. This part of the account is deeply moving, gives incredible insights into God's cosmic plan, how Yeshua becomes our great High Priest, and brings hope to any of us who find ourselves suddenly pressed to "give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." (1 Peter 3:15)

Matthew 26:47-56 - The King’s Arrest, Defense, and Surrender

April 19th, 2019

To varying degrees, most of us hate the sense that we're not in control. When we first read Yeshua's arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane, we get the sense that events are unfolding in such a way that carries Yeshua along, out of his control. Nothing could be further from the truth. Yeshua is in total control and fully committed to His Father's will and plan. How do we handle the seemingly uncontrollable times of life. Take a listen for some solid, life-stabilizing insights.

Matthew 26:36-46 - The King’s Prayer Under Pressure

April 19th, 2019

What do we do when we find ourselves in high-pressure situations? Most of us fret and panic. Some of us check-out and take a nap. Yeshua prayed. Pastor Jay takes us through Yeshua's prayer under pressure in the Garden of Gethsemane. There are wonderful reasons why this pressing time took place in Gethsemane, Gath Shemen, "the place of the olive press." It was in this moment that the fate of humanity was decided. And it has great lessons for all of us to embrace as well.

Matthew 29 - Advance Warning - Desert or Deny?

December 25th, 2018

As Yeshua moves through the Last Passover with His disciples, He gives them a very specific warning. He quotes Zechariah the prophet's words to Israel that the Lord's Shepherd will be struck and God's sheep will be scattered. With this remez (a rabbinic way of speaking or referring to an entire section of scripture without quoting the entire piece), Yeshua warns His disciples about what is about to befall them and why. The question to be answered is, "Will they indeed desert or deny Him?" Knowing what happens during Yeshua's arrest, let's not be too hard on Peter and the rest of the disciples. If we're put into the same situations, what will our response be?
