Matthew 9 - The King’s Authoritative Word and Ways

October 7th, 2016

(Matthew 9:14-17) Jesus/Yeshua is the King. A King is a sovereign to whom another bends their knee. What happens when two kings clash? If there is only room for one king, then one must eventually bow to the other. And that is what we see in this episode with Jesus and John's disciples. No, this isn't a violent or mean clash, but a clash of word and ways. Yeshua is challenged over His teaching and His practices that He is giving His disciples. John's disciples wonder whose teaching and practices are right - John's or Jesus'. In this debate, we gain excellent insights into WHY Jesus clashed with many Torah teachers around Him and WHY it's important for people to be reborn spiritually through His salvation.
